A little while ago, I published a piece entitled “Childbirth Isn’t Beautiful. It’s Horrifying” in response to the recent leak of a Supreme Court draft opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade. Of course, with a topic as controversial as abortion I expected there would be some dissent in the comments. And there was.

Look, I understand and accept that as a writer on the internet (especially one of the woman variety) I’m going to come into contact with people who don’t agree with my opinions, even insult me for them. That’s fine. Bring it on.

And then, this morning, the craziest thing happened.

A person’s right to choose whether or not they want to carry a pregnancy to term is an issue that I’m very passionate about, and it absolutely infuriates me that six people who were not voted into office(two of whom have credible sexual assault allegations against them) just unilaterally decided that people shouldn’t have that right.

And so, though I usually try not to engage with my opposers, I feel compelled to address some of the points they were making.
